Good Evening, Room 36 Families!
Tomorrow begins our LONG Labor Day Weekend! No school Friday (9/1) or Monday (9/4).
The first Student of the Month ceremony will be on Wednesday, September 6th. The Students of the Month for August brought a letter home with more information. (Students are listed on the Student of the Month page on the right.)
There will also be a Class Dojo Lunch Bunch on Thursday (9/7), for students with the highest number of Dojo points for the month. These top scoring students will be able to eat lunch in the classroom, play games, share treats, and possibly watch a video.

Good Afternoon, Room 36 Families!
I'm so excited -- Brentwood students received their planners today! This will be a much better way to keep track of homework than the weekly sheet we had been using.
Because of some technical difficulties, students will take the Week 1 Vocabulary Quiz next week. They have a whole extra week to study. :-)
It is going to be HOT all week. If possible, please send your students with more water than usual. I don't want anyone to get dehydrated.
Homework:
- Read 20 Minutes
- Math: Missing Numbers/100s chart
- Finish: Doodle Vocabulary: Week 2
- Students MUST return all Parent Homework + an

No weekend homework, but student WILL have a vocabulary quiz on Monday. (Week 1 vocabulary words: peer, plentiful, ascend, and constellation.) Students need to be able to use the words correctly in a sentence.

The fourth graders attended a Behavior Assembly with Ms. Pennicooke, Ms. Bryan, and Ms. Lauridsen this morning. We discussed the many ways we need to Be Safe, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible at school.
Homework:
- Read 20 minutes (independent reading at Lexile level)
- Math: Comparing Numbers

- All Parent Homework needs to be returned to school ASAP.

Today we conducted our first Mystery Science exploration! Room 36 set out to answer the question: Can a volcano pop up in your backyard? Please ask your students to explain why or why not!

We had a great day learning about solar eclipses today! All students who had permissions slips were able to go outside and use Brentwood's NASA approved glasses to view the partial eclipse over Los Angeles. It was exciting!
You students brought home the parent "homework" packet from the Main Office today. Please try to fill it all out and return by Friday.

- Math: Alaska's Populations

Room 36 students experienced their first STEM challenge of the year! Please ask them how they saved "Fred".
I have started using Class Dojo. For those of you who don't already have a parent account, if you turned in the purple sign-up sheet I will have you in the system soon.
