Also, this weekend would be a great time for students to do some research in preparation for their Mars Colony Project next week.

Good Afternoon, Room 36 Families!
Today we have been learning all about the planet Mars, and Mars One's plan to send humans to establish a settlement on the Red Planet by 2030.  Students now have a fairly good idea what they will need to include in the Mars colony they will engineer with their team.  Students can continue to bring in recycled materials to use after the weekend. Engineering will start next week!

- MyMath: Chapter 10, Lesson 4 (p. 655-656)

Good Evening, Room 36 Families!
Today Ms. Ward spoke to our class about a special event we have been asked to be a part of: Teachers and administrators from around the country (and the district) will be visiting Brentwood next Thursday to experience our special Science Magnet! Room 36 will be performing a brief science "rap" about ecosystems and food chains as an example of the special ways kids get to interact with science at our school. We're excited!

Welcome Back, Everyone!

Sorry for not posting yesterday -- my brain was still on Spring Break! ;-)

The rest of the year is going to go pretty fast. I've told the kids to buckle up!
4th graders will take the SBAC assessment during the first week of May 1st - 5th.  If your student is still shaky on their multiplication facts, PLEASE have them working on ReflexMath or some other fact practice to be prepped.
The 4th Grade Chorus Concert is on Monday, April 24th. Please come hear our students sing!
This week we are starting our Mars Colony project. We will be doing this mostly in class.  A note was sent home before Spring Break asking for donations of recycled materials for students we can use to build a Mars colony.

Good Afternoon, Room 36 Families!
Don't forget: Spring Picture Day is tomorrow (4/4/17).  This is optional, but photo order forms were sent home with all students.
Also, don't forget that there's no school next week: It's Spring Break!
In preparation for the SBAC, which students will be taking in May, we are doing a math review this week.  Today we covered Chapter 1 (place value, estimating/rounding, ordering numbers), and we will also review multiplication strategies, long division, and patterns/sequences.  All math homework this week will also be testing practice.
