Good Afternoon, Room 36,
We have begun our unit on the California Gold Rush, and today we started listening to the audio book By the Great Horn Spoon! in class.  Some students borrowed books so that they could read on their own at home,  but because the language is fairly true to the time period (1849) they may need a bit of assistance.
Homework:

Monday, May 15th

Good Afternoon, Room 36 Families!
Just a reminder: While students may choose to bring toys and art supplies to school in their backpack, these items may not be out during instructional time.  In general it is not a good idea to bring such items to school -- not only because they are a distraction, but because there is always the chance that they could be lost or stolen. (Some items I have had to confiscate this year: Pokemon cards, spinners, fancy pens and pencils, stuffed animals, toy cars, compact mirrors, fashion design kits, lotion, perfume, special animal erasers, rubik's cubes, artistic coloring books, lego people, and more!)

Homework:
- Read 20 minutes (independent reading at Lexile level)
- MyMath: Chapter 10, Lesson 6 (p. 667-668)
- Exercises A, B, C & D from Spider Webs reading

Looking forward to seeing Room 36 families tonight at Open House!
Congratulations to Engineering Challenge Team #4: ChonTray, Kara, Layla, and Louis! Their team's pod survived the Mars landing, and their rover was able to roll the farthest!  Kudos to Teams #1 (Rayne, Kayla, Paola & Karen) and #2 (Ericka, Promise, Jayden, & Sean) as well.  Their pods also survived, but their rovers did not roll as far.

No Homework!

This week is going to be lots of fun!
